🎭 Neil Newbon, the voice and charm behind Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, was once nearly bankrupt, and after the game's success he turned down a slew of offers for similar vampirey parts.
He stresses it wasn't about the quality, many projects looked solid, but the characters felt too much like the Astarion archetype. Newbon refuses to repeat himself unless he can bring something fresh: he'd rather not be STUCK in one slot. Cites David Bowie as his model for constant reinvention. His voice can stay recognisable, but he won't copy the same mannerisms, now he's picking roles that are as different from each other as possible and keeps working on new projects.
