🏆 Square Enix topped Metacritic's publishers ranking for 2025, jumping up from 6th, 28 companies made the list and the snapshot is dated 13 March 2026.
Metacritic scored publishers on four axes: average game score, share of titles ≥75/100, share of low-scoring releases ≤49/100 (inverted), and the count of releases ≥90/100 with at least seven critic reviews (+5 points each). Only digital releases were counted; mobile titles excluded, and sub-brands were merged with parent companies when appropriate.
