⚠️ TIGA: UK games industry in CRISIS, between May 2024 and September 2025 developer headcount fell from 28,516 to 27,347. 491 studios cut 3,655 jobs while 513 teams added only 2,751 new roles. Freelancing climbed above 4,200 people; large teams (>15) lost nearly 1,800 staff. The market lost 206 companies and new studio formation plunged (281 → 137), the lowest in 15 years. TIGA points to weak global sales, a lack of early-stage funding and post‑pandemic reshaping, and urges stronger tax relief and support for game development, which could inject hundreds of millions of pounds and create thousands of jobs.
