Stop Killing Games

⚡️The European Parliament hosted a hearing on Stop Killing Games, roughly 45 minutes, with industry reps, lawyers and the movement's authors in the room.

Deputy committee chair Nils Ušakovs warned the issue affects millions, possibly hundreds of millions, who could lose access to games they've bought. The initiative's data: of ~400 titles that require a publisher connection, 93.5% become inaccessible once support ends. Founder Ross Scott says publishers can fully shut paid games; the Commission has tasked Giuseppe Abbamonte to map legal gaps. The ask isn't to ban business models but to force companies to keep games working or offer alternative access. GONE.

Phasmophobia

👻 Phasmophobia goes full COLLAB with Alan Wake 2, basically inviting Alan's darkness into your ghost hunts.

Event runs May 12, June 2: a new entity will start interfering with investigations, reshaping how hunts play out and dropping themed rewards. The story is framed as if told by Alan Wake himself, ramping up the psychological-horror vibe courtesy of Remedy. Developers from Kinetic Games and Remedy Entertainment call it a "perfect fit", and Sam Lake admits the team enjoyed crafting the tale, pleasant work, with a side of nightmare.

Shadow of the Road

⚔️ The story trailer for Shadow of the Road, «Between Destruction and Becoming, Forging the Future», is out.

Forza Horizon 6

🔥 Forza Horizon 6 has already pulled in over 500k preorders on Steam, racking up more than $28M before release.

Alinea Analytics calls it the fastest pre-order pace in the franchise: they estimate the Steam launch could top 2M copies in the first 24 hours. A notable spike on April 13, after the achievements list was revealed, pushed many players to buy once they saw the progression structure and the perceived ease of collecting the full reward set. INSANE

Alexander Morton has died

🕯️ Alexander Morton has died at 81, best known as the voice of Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher.

The news was confirmed by CD Projekt RED. Morton was familiar beyond games: Goli Mackenzie in the TV series «Хозяин долины» (all 64 episodes), appearances in "Luther" and "Shetland", and voice work on LittleBigPlanet PS Vita among many other titles. A real LOSS for fans and the industry.

Final Fantasy 14

⚡️ Final Fantasy 14 has FINALLY announced a release date for the new Beastmaster job.

Players have been asking for this since before Dawntrail. The job clearly nods to Final Fantasy V: pet mechanics, beast-focused combat and classic FF vibes. Now we wait for full patch notes and test dates. 🐾

Replaced

⚡️Launch drama around Replaced, the game dropped on 14 April, but a review calling it «AI-based» made some players assume it was MADE WITH AI 😅

Studios Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful clarified: the protagonist being a human/AI hybrid is a STORY element, while the game itself is 100% handmade, no generative AI was used. The mix‑up over an IGN phrasing shows how touchy the AI topic has become in the industry.

OPUS: Prism Peak

📷 OPUS: Prism Peak, a quiet, bittersweet adventure about Eugene, a 40‑year‑old whose life is falling apart, and a mysterious girl Ren. You spend most of the time photographing spirit‑animals to restore memories, collecting seeds to upgrade your camera, and piecing together world lore; there are light chase segments and boss encounters that exist to break the pace. Standout Japanese VO by Shinichiro Miki and Kana Ichinose, calming ambient score and modest but tasteful visuals. Biggest flaw, no Russian localization, so real‑time dialogue can be easy to miss. HITS HARD
